Seiko 5 Sports 55th Anniversary PEANUTS Limited Edition

CONCEPT

Seiko 5 Sports, which will celebrate its 55th anniversary in 2023, has collaborated with PEANUTS, the internationally beloved comic series that first appeared in 1950.

Featuring characters from the comic, the watches are based on the popular SKX Sports Style and Field Sports Style from Seiko 5 Sports. Snoopy, the world’s most famous beagle, appears on both SRPK25 and SRPK27, with his best friend Woodstock joining him on the latter. The images of the PEANUTS characters on the watches have been carried over from original cartoon strips in newspaper.

ABOUT PEANUTS

Charles M. Schulz first introduced the world to PEANUTS in 1950, when the comic strip debuted in seven newspapers. Since then, Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the PEANUTS gang have made an indelible mark on popular culture.

DESIGN

The watches in the collaboration feature a design linked to the original PEANUTS art.

In SRPK25, Snoopy is a surfer who rides the waves, as in the original art. The surfboard on the dial is an original Seiko 5 Sports design, lending the watch a unique feel that only the collaboration can achieve.

SRPK27’s art depicts Snoopy flying through the air as a helicopter, his floppy beagle ears serving as the propeller and his best friend Woodstock as the pilot. The parachute on the case back is an original Seiko 5 Sports design, which also creates a special feeling unique to the collaboration.

To create a collaborative timepieces that bring the world of the artwork to life on the wrist, the hand-drawn script of Charles Schulz, the creator of the comic strip PEANUTS, is adopted on the bezel display of the SPRK25, on the dial of the SPRK27, and for the 'LIMITED EDITION’ text of both case backs.

Snoopy's footprint – really, it’s more of a “pawprint” – appears on each crown as a special touch to delight fans and immerse the wearer in the world of PEANUTS.
